A year passed and suddenly the USA published a decree completely closing the gates of the country to immigration. Nobody was allowed to enter the country, not even those who were considered as belonging to the most favored category. This news smashed all our hopes and almost drove us crazy. Nothing could comfort mother, she was totally distressed, anguished and disappointed. She tried to hide her suffering from us and as a result of her utter despair she became sick. It was her heart.
